Barbara has spoken at two ERA Real  Estate conventions about succession in family businesses. She has tackled critical issues such as which family members to allow into the business; how to educate, train and mentor them objectively; when to offer equity to them; how to get them to work well with other family members and nonfamily employees and when—if ever,—to turn over the reins of the business to them.

She was also a guest expert on an Oprah Winfrey TV show that focused on home-remodeling disasters and how to avoid them, spoken on national radio and TV shows about design and real-estate topics, been on radio and TV and radio programs to promote her various books and been part of a panel discussion about being a journalist, both at the high school and university levels.
